In the winter of 2004, I sat in the audience of a lecture Maryjane was giving at Canyon Ranch Health Resort. At the time, I was in the process of a large addition to my home. After listening to Maryjane, I was enthusiastically informed and determined to change my current project into a non-toxic environment. My project would not be an easy assignment. I lived out of state, my contractor had no experience with non-toxic products or concepts, and construction on the sight had already begun.

I hired Maryjane and warned her of the obstacles ahead. She took that challenge and enlisted the full cooperation of my builder. She provided endless options to concerns or problems we encountered. No question or request was to small or to big. “Healthy Structures” goes beyond a job title or business for Maryjane. It is her passion: a quest to make an impact on improving the health of people and the environment. My family lives in the space, and it is a great feeling knowing that space is healthy and toxic free.

I have been environmentally sensitive for a number of years. A new job in a high-rise office building exacerbated my sensitivity to electricity. With the help of Maryjane from Healthy Structures, I discovered how to lower the electrical fields in my bedroom to a safe level for me. I not only sleep better, I feel better overall as my general sensitivity has decreased. Best of all, I was able to lower the fields in my bedroom without additional expense!

Due to health issues and our desire for a healthy environment, our kitchen floor, which was rough sawn oak, could never be sanded and finished. We had splinters in our feet for twelve years until Maryjane found a product that we could use on the floor. I used to get sinus infections every two months, but after working in a “healthy” office space that Maryjane designed, I have not had any sinus or allergy problems. I feel much healthier working in this type of office, and this has encouraged me to be more “toxic-free” in my own home.
